  «Depuis le temps qu'on en entendait parler, là, c'est terminé !», s'est réjoui l'actuel maire de Chambly, Denis Lavoie, en conférence de presse, sous le nouveau pavillon du parc du Patriotes, le 22 octobre. Avec ses six terrains de tennis, son terrain de soccer et un autre de balle-molle, le plus grand et important parc de la municipalité fera le bonheur des petits et des grands sportifs.

Cinq mois après le premier coup de pelle du parc situé dans le secteur des boulevards Anne-le-Seigneur et Lebel, les dignitaires de la municipalité ont procédé à l'inauguration officielle de la phase un, qui est évaluée à 3,4 M $. Un montant qui n'a nécessité aucun emprunt, a rappelé M. Lavoie.

«La gestion de nos finances nous permet de défrayer une infrastructure verte durable, sans toucher au compte de taxes de citoyens. Nous avons réussi à provisionner nos surplus pendant trois ans dans notre Fonds de parc. C'est ce qu'on peut appeler une gestion responsable», a-t-il ajouté.

Les Chamblyens peuvent maintenant profiter d'un terrain de soccer éclairé, d'un terrain de balle-molle éclairé, de six terrains de tennis, d'un pavillon, de mobiliers urbains et de sentiers asphaltés.

À venir

La deuxième phase du parc sera mise en branle, dès le printemps. On y retrouvera, entre autres, un chalet de service, des jeux d'eau, un terrain de jeux pour les jeunes, une patinoire quatre saisons, un étang, un terrain de basket ainsi qu'un skate park.
